Ditch those New Year Resolutions in 2020!

Ditch those New Year Resolutions!

It is commonly thought that around mid-January, as the bleak winter weather continues, the bills roll in and the pressure to keep all those new year promises you made mounts up, it is understandable that Blue Monday has become a date surrounded by doom and gloom! Common resolutions like diet and exercise plans tend to run a mock when the cold, dark days are upon us and it seems a fruitless task to try to keep life more organised, when life seems to do its own thing anyway!

With this in mind I thought I would start the year with some more realistic resolutions, and ones that I hope my family and I can stick too, not just in January, but for life!

Plastics

Wool laundry dryer balls collectors edition 15 different sheep

We all now know how detrimental single use plastics can be on the environment. Here, at Little Beau Sheep, I created my environmentally friendly wool laundry balls made of naturally sustainable British Wool. This reduced the need for plastic dryer balls or plastic bottles of fabric conditioner.

There are many alternative uses for these naturally made dryer ball, click on the link for more ideas!

Plus, there are many more things we can do! Read on for a few of my ideas to get you started in 2020!

Re-Cycle

This is a great one to get the children on board with! You can allocate them with a material each to recycle and they can be in charge of making sure none of it goes into household rubbish! Along side this we can also try to limit our purchasing of single use plastics.

I visited this idea in my blog a few years ago, but I feel with the environment being such a hot topic at the moment, it is worth reminding ourselves of the devastating impact they can have. So let’s Turn The Tide on Plastic together!

Up-Cycle

Try to find different uses for unwanted items rather than taking them to the tip, the team at Personal Creations have shared plenty of good ideas on their blog!

If you are beginning to have a post-christmas clear out and are looking to get organised for the New Year, Kate Ibbotson, writer of A Tidy Mind, gives me some tips here.

Support local economy and Business

Shop local, shop small. Support small business, there is a real sense of happiness in knowing you are helping someone to provide a better life for their family. You generally get better quality rather that the mass produced products. Win, win all round!

Etsy approved mindful and sustainable shoppingYou can also help small business by shopping with Etsy. This online store is designed with honest craftsmanship in mind and its values reflect a more mindful approach to shopping.

There are lots of ways in which you can be thoughtful about the way in which your shopping habits have an effect on the planet and the people around you, and buying local is a good place to start!

Care for your Community

It might be as simple as checking on an elderly neighbour, donating to the local school or church, or volunteering at a playgroup or community run event. Feel good vibes all round.

I hope this helps to give you some ideas to help get 2020 off to a happy and healthy start!
